Grade 5/6 Bake Sale

Hey Everyone!

The Grade 5/6s will be having a traveling Bake Sale Monday Dec. 18 – Wednesday Dec. 21st! 
 

All proceeds from the Bake Sale will go directly to benefitting the homeless at the Drop-In Center. We will be coming to your class over the next week.

World Wild Life Poster Contest

Hey CJFS, 

Would you like to help our endangered animals?

Come to the Room 4/5 on Tuesday, Dec. 5th at lunch to learn about CJFS's World Wild Life Foundation Poster competition!

Casino Volunteers

Dear Families,

To raise money for our school, on December 7-8 our Parents for Progress Society will be working at Calgary Casino.

During the last casino, we raised over $70,000 that went to support everything from field trips, to technology, library books and artists in residence.  This is a significant opportunity to earn an incredible amount of money to support student learning at CJFS.

Shifts:

There is only 2 weeks left until our fundraising event!

We need:

• 1 volunteers for the 11:00 to 5:00 day shift
• 2 volunteers for the 4:30 to 10:30 evening shift
• 2 volunteers for the 9:45 to 3:30 night shift
• 2 volunteers for the 11:15 to 3:30 late night shift

and

• 4 volunteers for the 11:00 to 5:00 Friday day shift
• 2 volunteers for the 4:30 to 10:30 Friday evening shift
• 2 volunteers for the 11:15 to 3:45 late night Friday shift

** Parents for Progress will offer $35 to use towards childcare or a voucher to use within the school for things such as such as: 

• Swim program
• school fees
• Scholastic book fair

One of the most important things for students learning to read is having stories read to them.  This allows students to see and hear fluent reading and can really help students to develop as readers themselves.

Tumblebooks is an excellent website for studentsTo have books read to them online. It is accessible through the Internet and is available for both computers and mobile devices.
Through a partnership with the Calgary Public Library, we now have direct access to TumbleBooks for all CBE students.

Casino Volunteers Needed!

Parents for Progress Needs YOU!!

Every two years, the Colonel J. Fred Scott School Parents for Progress Association hosts a Casino Fundraiser, our largest fundraising event. This generates a great deal of money for our school and greatly enhances our children's education.

Volunteers are needed to fill positions at the Casino Calgary on December 7 & 8, 2017.

Please, stop at the front office during parent-teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday to sign up and reserve your spot!

Our first Fun lunch of the year will be Panago Pizza on October 11.  At CJFS we use the website Healthy Hunger to order fun lunch.  If you need to set up an account, please see the form below. Click on the image to enlarge.

Hello Everyone,

Our staff has been working hard to have the school ready to welcome you all.  We are super excited for the amazing year to come!

As we begin the year, we want to take the time to start off right!  CJFS is a peaceful learning community where we always follow the three pillars of respect and care.  At CJFS we:

1) Respect Ourselves
2) Respect Each Other
3) Respect this place

As we begin the year we will all be working together to show each other how much we care.  An important part of this is following our playground expectations.  Please watch his video:
